Personal Biography Services:
More than simply maintaining the family geneaology, recording your memories will preserve the epic stories of your life for future generations to enjoy. Recording your family's stories will enable your descendents and other family members to learn about their ancestors and preserve family lore and wisdom. Your memories will add personality to the names and dates listed on your family's tree.
Corporate Histories:
Many corporations choose to hire a professional researcher to piece together their history and to interview the original founders or those employees who were involved in pivotal events in the growth of their company. This provides unique insight into the goals, challenges, and mission statement of a business as it existed in the beginning and provides valuable foundational support to guide future growth.
Why Epic Echoes?:
Of course, many people write their own biographies and histories, and many keep memories and family stories in their journals or diaries, by collecting and preserving old letters and photographs, or even by making audio recordings of stories that have been handed down to them from past generations. Many others, though, find it helpful to work with a professional to assit in capturing family memoirs and adding editorial focus to these Memory Projects. That is where the services provided by Epic Echoes will help.
Services include the following:
Interviewing Services:
Working with an experienced interviewer starts with an initial interview where the scope of your project will be discussed. Questions about your life will help you to remember some of the events that were important in your past. This usually requires a total of from six to twelve hours over multiple sessions that include an initial interview which can be performed either in person or over the phone prior to the recording sessions. Interviews are usually conducted in sessions of no more than two hours each. Sessions that cover only specific events or shorter periods in your life can be performed in less time and in fewer sessions. More extensive interviews and interviews that include multiple family members will require more time and more sessions.
Your memories will be recorded in digital format that is suitable for storage on a CD and on your computer. These recordings are keepsakes themselves because they allow your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to hear your stories in your own voice.
Transcription & Editing of Recordings:
If your stories have already been recorded (through our interviews or recorded on your own), we can transcribe these recordings verbatim, including both questions and answers, in an easy-to-read format. As an alternative, your recordings can be used to create a transcription in a narrative (story telling) format. Your stories will be lightly edited to correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure while preserving your unique “style.”
Once your story has been transcribed, you will have the opportunity to review the document and make any corrections or changes before the final manuscript is printed.
Writing Services & Ghostwriting:
Have you already written your life story and just need someone to help you with the final "polish"? We can edit your own manuscript to give it a more professional flair. If you need help revising, organizing, or even writing your story, we can work with you as a collaborator, co-author, or as an un-named “ghostwriter” to help make your biography more readable by adding details and transitions to your work.
We also offer the option of having your stories professionally printed and bound in either a hard-cover or soft-cover book that includes some of your favorite photographs. These books make a great gift!
Classes, Workshops, Lectures & Training:
Life-story writing classes and workshops will get you started writing your stories and motivate you to keep going. They are a great help in guiding you through the process of recalling and describing your memories in an organized and effective environment. These sessions can be stimulating, moving, thought-provoking and fun! I offer classes, workshops, lectures and presentations for organizations and events such as: family reunions, schools, senior centers, nursing homes, hospices, hospitals, historical societies, residential communities, and religious communities.
Corporate Histories:
Epic Echoes can review archival materials (such as newspaper clippings, special event programs, corporate minutes, etc.) and write a readable and informative history of your company, church, or organization. We can arrange to sit with the company's founders or older, retired members who are willing to share their insight, their memories, and their thoughts on their involvement in building the company. These histories will be printed and published in a library-quality book for preservation for years to come.

Pricing:
Beginning with a free initial consultation to discuss the scope of your project, we will then work together to establish a timeline and budget which will be presented to you as a written quote for your consideration and acceptance. Prices begin at $325 for a one-hour recorded interview session. Prices vary based upon the scope of your project and can range up to several thousand dollars for a multi-participant family or a large corporate project finalized in book format.
Transcription services are priced based on the clarity of the recording, the number of speakers, and how quickly the finished product is needed. Our prices for this service are quite competitive! Please contact us for a quote.
